Wow. I bought a new Behringer EP2500 power amp for my stepson's Birthday. He opened ity up last night and we hooked it up to the Yamaha mixer I got for his brother's Birthday. Ran a CD player to the Yamaha and then hooked the amp up to my Model 19's. WOW! So clean and extended compated to the old Yamaha PC2002M. It was co clear and clean! The Yamaha is obviously getting old and tired.
This morning I was working on some cold solder joints on an old Yamaha C50 preamp I was going to donate for the new stereo for him to take home... Realized that I blew one of the HF drivers on the 19's. It was one of the originals from 1978. Will have to see if Bill can replace it.
Should I have him re-mag and replace both? Will the new one sound the same as the original? I assume they are aluminum.
Now I am thinking that I may need a new power amp too. My wife even mentioned that the new amp sounded so much better - difference between night and day, so I have her permission to get a new amp! But do I want a Behringer or a new Crown? So, now to start deciding.
I am really thinking that the Behringer is a nice amp for the money. Free shipping and no taxes to boot! Only issue for a home amp is the fan noise as far as I could tell.
I heard about the Behringer here and that made my decision to go with the Behringer. Thanks for the info!

I've been telling people aout those for a while-
Nothing touches that amp for twice it's price. Maybe triple. It's a relative of the QSC 2400- virtually identical component count. It sounds better than the QSC.
700 at 4, 1200 at 2 for around $279 if you shop hard enough.
The DCX is hot stuff too, as is the DEQ.

Yep. It was your recommendation that made me decide to get that one for the birthday gift. That also alloed me to check it out. Very nice for the price. I am still thinking I may need one just for me too!
That amp could drive a lot more than the Model 19's. They are just not that hungry for power - but the headroom is nice...

Frankly- my amps are going with my system, I'm going to keep some stuff for smaller gigs. I may pick up some of those. For the gigs I'm gonna be doing I doubt gear snobbery will be an issue.
An acquaintance says those run fine all day long at 2 ohms. I'd be a bit nervous about that.

I think my main concern would be figuring out why the driver blew before I went out and bought new diaphragms.
Some of the guys here might be able to guide you on checking DC bias and offset if applicable because your amp could be spiking some DC into the speakers.
19s, although they are very efficient can also handle quite alot of power so there might be something happening that you would want to look into.
